The Clock Tower at Fintra, Killybegs, Donegal is a newly discovered gem of a place, incorporating stylish restaurant, lounge bar and a well designed space for functions of all sorts. The place gets its name from the old tower and stone frontage dating from 1896, which have been elegantly blended so that old and new are joined seamlessly to create a welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful location. Just 3 kilometres west of Killybegs on the Carrick/Glencolmcille road, the Fintra estate compromises of 85 rolling acres tucked in between the mountains and the sea with rolling sand dunes, old woodland and the only Blue Flag beach on the north coast of Donegal Bay. The lounge bar on three levels with outside deck provides for 100 patrons in comfort. Food is available in the lounge and the sixty-inch plasma screen TV set into the wall is the ideal way to keep abreast of the news or watch that major sporting event. Following the spiral staircase up the tower leads you to the Clock Tower's luxury "Tir na nOg" restaurant, which also has a magnificent view south over the sand dunes and sea. This room is ideal for private parties, celebrations or corporate events for up to 50 patrons. The Clock Tower prides itself with a team of highly trained staff dedicated to ensuring your visit is memorable and enjoyable. The Clock Tower is also renouned for its family friendly atmosphere. You can view photos of our childrens' play room in our Gallery and with large, safe grounds around the area, children can enjoy themselves while you sit back and enjoy a relaxed atomosphere in the lounge bar. The Clock Tower is part of a much more ambitious development at Fintra which will see the construction by Glenbourne Developments Ltd. of holiday homes - in four designs from 2-bed to 4-bed - as well as an 80 bedroom hotel with full leisure facilities and a challenging 9-hole golf links. The development has been designed with responsibilty and a care for the environment and includes a major dune recovery programme involving the bedding in of several thousand marram grass plants to assist dune formation and the planting of native Irish trees to revitalise the old estate woodland. FOOD Using the finest local produce including locally caught fish, The Clock Tower offers three main menus: The Lighter Bites menu, The Bar Bistro menu and The Chefs Daily Specials Board. With The Clock Towers Lighter Bites menu the customer can choose from a smaller lunch menu ranging from our Fintra bay seafood chowder to a variety of filled paninis or jacket potatoes. (menu served from 12pm to 5pm on Saturday afternoons). The Clock Towers extensive Bar Bistro menu offers a much larger selection of freshly cooked to order food. With traditional classics such as Steak and Ale pie, homemade Beef Lasagne, fresh fillet of Cod coated in a crispy beer batter. For something a little different try our Thai lemon and coriander chicken or Spicy Chicken Tikka Marsala or why not enjoy The Clock Towers famous Warm Chicken and Bacon salad served with sautéed baby potatoes and garlic mayo. The Chefs daily Specials board allows The Clock Tower to try out new dishes and gives the chefs the opportunity to let their creative juices flow. Specialising in fresh fish you can expect to find anything from Lobster, Black sole, Monkfish, Sea bass, Wild Salmon, Oysters, Mussels etc, as well as local favourites Surf ‘n’ Turf and BBQ spare ribs. On Sundays The Clock Tower offers a Sunday Lunch Menu in our lounge bar from 12pm to 4pm in conjunction with our Bistro Menu. The atmosphere at The Clock Tower is a very relaxed and family oriented one, where children can enjoy the use of our toys and our wonderfully decorated play house. The Clock Tower chefs are only to happy to cater for any special dietary needs or sit down with a customer and design a menu for a special occasion, like a Wedding, Christening or Birthday.
